International DJ Stevie George who originally stems from Cambridge, UK (born and raised but not edjukated there!) can be found entertaining the masses at the awesome Muju Lounge (Amwaj Island) amongst other locations across Bahrain. In a regular column he'll be checking out the latest releases for Gulf Weekly readers.

The Brit Awards 2011 by Various Artists

The awards began in 1977 and became an annual event in 1982. Surrounded in controversy over the years The Brit Awards has a habit of regularly being in the news for all the wrong reasons.

Who can forget at the 2010 awards Liam Gallagher (Oasis) throwing his toys out of the pram, and Peter Kay calling him names afterwards to rapturous applause, Russell Brand pushing the boundaries of acceptable hosting in 2007, Gerri Halliwell's tight-fitting Union Jack dress (later sold at charity auction for a huge amount) in 1997 and my favourite moment when Jarvis Cocker (the name says it all) jumped on stage at the end of Michael Jackson's performance of Earth Song in 1996.

This latest CD installment offers 40 top quality songs plus a Bonus CD containing artists from the Brit school, and offers you, the listener, a chance to sample many bands and artists you wouldn't normally associate with good music.

For your information, to date Robbie Williams has more Brit Awards than any other artist at 16 awards including three with Take That.

This week on the new music front, look out for the albums 'THIRTEEN' by Robert Miles, 'James Blake' by James Blake and 'A Dog's Life' by the very comical and entertaining "The Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band" including the classic songs 'I'm An Urban Spaceman' and 'The Intro and The Outro Song'.

So, like the words from The Embrace classic 'For All You Good Good People' here are some wise words ... if you lend someone BD20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it!
