BAHRAIN'S cinemas may soon be facing some serious competition thanks to the launch of the world's largest full LED 3D TV.

LG Electronics (LG) and AJM Kooheji Group recently unveiled the 72-inch LZ9700 at a ceremony at the Elite Resort & Spa in Muharraq.

At 59-inches wide and 40-inches tall, the LZ9700 allows viewers to see life-sized action in crystal-clear detail, proving once-and-for-all that size really does matter.

The old adage 'a picture is worth a thousand words' takes on a whole new meaning from the very second you feast your eyes on this BD4,990 marvel of modern technology.

The state-of-the-art multi-media maestro features LG's latest smart technologies, making it possible to access social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook directly on the TV, without ever having to switch on your PC. Users can also access information about travel, health, weather forecasts and news at the touch of a button.

The TV also comes equipped with the DLNA feature, which stands for Digital Living Network Alliance - a set of rules that electronics' companies are all following in order for devices to 'talk' to each other.

Chances are you've got video footage on your camcorder that you have to stop and burn to disc, and then hope it will play on your DVD player, or you've got a digital camera, but are restricted to viewing your photos on your PC screen. Getting them all to work normally involves several cables and buckets of patience, but, providing your gadgets are DLNA compatible, this feature helps you to save time and enjoy all your toys without hassle.

The LZ9700 is illuminated by 1,920 LEDs directly behind the screen, which the makers say provides unprecedented picture quality and viewing experience. In fact LG boasts that thanks to the abundance of LEDs, the LZ9700 produces a picture LG say is as colourful as a portrait in an art gallery.

With this TV, the picture isn't just bright, it's clear too, thanks to the TruMotion 400Hz feature, which refreshes the screen 400 times per second presenting smoother and clearer 3D images with no blurring, even during the fastest-paced sequence.

Furthermore, the 3D feature offers enhanced viewing that is so clear and vivid one onlooker actually ducked while watching a demonstration video of an airplane gliding along some snow-capped mountains!

Even the 'Magic Motion Remote Control' is unique, it looks and acts more like a Nintendo Wii controller than a TV remote control.

It allows users to interact with their content of choice through simple gestures. For example, with a conventional remote control, users need to push buttons multiple times to select the icon required, whereas with this one, choosing icons is immediate and easy.

Although the TV itself may take up a fair amount of space in living rooms, the LZ9700 is completely wireless to ensure that even if living space is at a premium it will not be cluttered.

The LZ9700 comes with two pairs of 3D glasses and is available in all LG showrooms across the kingdom.
