SO why does your sports columnist Abu George hate Manchester United? I was born just a stone's throw away from United's ground. I'm a true red, which I should think mirrors most of the population of the city. To suggest otherwise is just spreading a myth which originates from our jealous neighbours.

We are also the best supported team in the world. You'll find our fans everywhere. Manchester United will walk away with the English Premiership title and the European Champions League yet again, and I'll be cheering along with thousands of fans here in Bahrain.

Sir Alex Ferguson's team happens to be the greatest. Abu, get over it.

Mike Lowe,

Riffa.

YOU inspired our team with the article on karting in a recent edition of GulfWeekly and we are booking a birthday down there for our three 'rev heads'. It should be a good day out.

Julie, By email.

THIS is with reference to Omar Quraishi's article, 'Child within' in the last issue of Gulf Weekly.

The saying, 'looking through the eyes of a child' is a wise one, but it is not easy for an adult to follow. As the author observes, a child is a pure being.

As the child is a nascent creation, he is devoid of the unnecessary trash that accumulates in the human brain in the later stages of life. He does not store injustice, hurt feelings or hold grudges against people.

The universal law of forgiveness comes automatically to a child as he is in tune with nature and the creator.

Around two thousand years ago Marcus Aurelius noticed this phenomenon. He observed the trash collected in the cobbler and barber shops, saying that there is no such dumping ground available in the human brain to dispose of unwanted events.

Unfortunately some emotions and memories cannot be erased as easily as clicked the delete button on a computer. It requires some additional effort.

A young mind is impelled by the desire for experience and yearns for activity. A child's brain is in tune with nature. Nature reflects the creator and anything that is in agreement with nature is in agreement with the cosmic law and infinite wisdom. So, it is true that one should become a child to enter into the Kingdom of God. Sidney Ponniah By email.
