The World Beat CafŽ in Janabiya will open an exhibition by artist Tonya Vollertsen at 4pm. Her work, entitled 'Abstract Zainah' will consist of mixed media and monotypes. The Amwaj Lagoon Bazaar will take place next to Starbucks and Noodle Bowl from noon. It will feature crafts created from recycled materials aimed at spreading environmental awareness. Items for sale include jalabiyas, abayas, haute couture, casual wear, bags, slippers, necklaces, bangles, bracelets, baby items, household items and other knick-knacks. The Indian Club's Sanskaar Auditorium will host a Bharatanatyam Arangetram entitled 'Noopuradvani' at 6.30pm featuring 13 girls who will perform their debut public performance under the guidance of Mrs Chitra Ajith. The youngsters are Liya Isabella, Nandini Rajesh Nair, Vishnu Priya Sibiraj, Ahahida A Khan, Parvati Sajiv Kumar, Akshaya Prakash, R P Rashmika, Bincy Sabu, Ashwitha Sajeev, Nimna V Alwis, Keerthana Gopalakrishnan, Namrita Mariam and Neethu Krishnakumar. Chief guest of the evening will be Mr Ambilikuttan, principal and managing director of the Indian Institute of Performing Arts in Umm Al Hassam. Entry is by invitation only.
