In 2005 the animated film Hoodwinked was met with harsh reviews from critics and the 2011 sequel looks set to take a similar panning when it's released on Friday.
It has been argued that with a domestic box office take of $51 million, the 2005 original didn't exactly demand an encore.
Film critic Todd McCarthy, who caught and advanced screening of the movie, said that the gags were too close together.
"It's obnoxious because of the relentlessness with which it slams witless gags in the viewer's face," he said.
"We have only 3D to blame for the arrival of Hoodwinked Too! Hood Vs. Evil, one of the most obnoxious and least necessary animated films of the century thus far."
The plot to Hoodwinked Too! Hood VS. Evil 3D revolves around a ploy against the Happy Endings Agency (HEA), a hitherto secret organisation dedicated to ensuring happy endings to all fairy tales.
The film features vocal talent from Cheech and Chong, Andy Dick, Martin Short and Wayne Newton.
Hoodwinked Too! Hood Vs. Evil opens worldwide on Friday.
