THE Arsenal Soccer School Ladies League featured another two exciting matches as teams battled for points to secure the inaugural Gulf Weekly trophy.

Joga Bonito faced Arsenal Yellow in a tight and intense match. Within 15 minutes Joga Bonito took the lead as captain Alaa Al Durazi's powerful shot flew past the Arsenal keeper.

Arsenal Yellow grabbed an equaliser when midfielder Deena Rahman converted from the penalty spot after a handball, before striding into the lead after a dazzling run by Rahman ended with an unstoppable shot.

Bonito's Al Durazi equalised as the game looked like heading for a draw, great link play between forwards Tamara Kawash and Rahman allowed the Arsenal striker to complete her hat-trick with a left foot finish.

A 3-2 victory was secured with some exceptional defensive work from Jen Gilbert.

The second match of the night had the Desert Divas play St Christopher's Intermediate. The Divas took the lead with some nice passing early on.

As the side's confidence grew the goals kept coming. New recruit Kim Jerray Silver made a massive impact on the game scoring four goals on her debut.

Other goals came from forward Janet Kellagher, left back Deema Al Aseeri and Captain Shauna. The Divas won 8-0.

The St Christopher's Imtermediate girls fought hard and supporters suggest the score line was not a true reflection of the players' great endeavours.

The seven-a-side games take place at the Batelco Sports Ground in Hamala every Monday at 7pm.
