International DJ Stevie George can be found entertaining the masses at Muju Lounge on Amwaj  Island and many other places around Bahrain.

‘New Balls Please’ is the cry which will be ringing out across London SW19 for the next couple of weeks as one of the world’s great sporting events returns to grace millions of television sets around the world.

Yes, Wimbledon is back to deflate every British tennis fan’s hope of having a home-grown champion. Scotland’s very own hero Andy Murray seems the only current serious contender and I’m sure all expat Brits will hope he one day lifts that famous men’s singles trophy in front of the Royal Box.

I saw the Wimbledon final in 1991 when Michael Stich beat Boris Becker in three straight sets, and, even though I was sat in the cheap seats, the atmosphere was amazing.

I even sampled the much fabled ‘Strawberries and Cream’ and I didn’t have to take out much of a bank loan to afford them!

Currently close to 500,000 people attend the championships every year, but maybe the crowds dwindled a bit after Cliff Richard famously led a sing-a-long during a rain break in 1996 – he belted out six songs and has never been invited back to repeat his performance! So, let’s try and do some appropriate songs related to this awesome spectacle:

Jerry Lee Lewis – Great Balls Of Fire
Cardigans – My Favourite Game
The Beatles – Strawberry Fields Forever
Cream – Anyone For Tennis
Bobby Brown – Two Can Play That Game
ACE – How Long?

And the most famous song featuring Wimbledon has to be The Wombles theme tune from the 1970s written and performed by Mike Batt.

Until next time, remember: Nothing’s impossible for those who don’t have to do it.
