MARTIN Short has been cast in a recurring guest role as Jason Segel’s new boss on How I Met Your Mother, a CBS spokesperson said.
Fans will recall that Segel’s character, Marshall, was interviewing for a new job in last season’s finale. It was not clear whether Short would play a boss at a new firm.
How I Met Your Mother has been a critical success, and has received consistently strong ratings throughout its run. It has won five Emmy Awards, including a nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series in 2009.
Short will also guest star on Showtime’s Weeds this season. He played duplicitous lawyer Leonard Winstone on the last season of Damages and his last major series role was on Comedy Central’s Primetime Glick, which aired for three seasons ending in 2003.
