The Awali Ladies Hospitality Group charity craft fair will be held on October 29 at the Bapco Club in Awali from 11am to 4pm. The registration for the fair is open. Visitors can enjoy bargains on handmade goods and craft items as well as gifts for all festivities.
The official fan and entertainment zone for the First GCC Games, Bahrain 11 Village, located along the Al Fateh Corniche features a range of entertainment events and activities for all to enjoy between 6pm and midnight on weekdays and from 2pm-midnight on weekends until October 22.
The village will include a gaming zone equipped with Wii and XBox consoles, an extreme sports zone featuring fire jugglers and football freestylers, professional walkabout entertainers, an outdoor theatre, food stalls, a human foosball game and sports gallery. A line-up of acrobatic, music and stand-up comedy shows will also take place. AMA International School will host and conduct the 1st Bahrain National Robotics Olympiad (NRO) at the AMA International University Auditorium on October 20.
The NRO will be an annual robotics competition for elementary, middle and high school students. Participants with an interest in robotics, both from government and private schools in the kingdom, have been invited to compete.
Students will be instructed to solve critical problems within a specified time using a set of standard Lego Mindstorm NXT-G Robot parts. Each group will be judged based on their creativity and technological abilities. The winning team will be invited to compete in the World Robotics Olympiad on November 18 -20.
Saturday: The Bahrain City Centre is hosting a ‘Kick up your heels’ Walkathon, a 3km walk starting at 8am at the Food Court, Level 2 with a team of Fitness First instructors leading the pace for walkers on a course traversing all levels of the mall. It is limited to 300 participants and registration costs BD5 per walker.
A Breast Cancer Awareness Open Day will be held at the World Beat Fitness Centre from 9am-1pm at its premises in Janabiya. The centre’s teachers will volunteer to teach classes including Nia, Pilates, Belly Dancing, Yoga, Zumba, BodyVive, BodyBalance as well as activities for children. All proceeds along with any donations will go to Think Pink Bahrain. Classes will be open to ladies only. There will be door prizes and entertainment.
