Euro Motors, the importer of BMW Group vehicles in Bahrain, launched the second edition of BMW’s ‘M meets X’ driver training experience at the Bahrain International circuit (BIC).
Customers and media representatives participated in the event, in which BMW ‘driver trainers’ guided attendees through the wide range of driving features available on BMW M and X vehicles.
Organised by Euro Motors and BMW Middle East Regional Office, participants where shown how to get the best performance when driving M and X vehicles in different conditions, such as breaking, slalom and cornering. The drivers also had the opportunity to test the limits of their vehicles in a safe and controlled environment.
“Events like ‘M meets X’ provides an opportunity for highly experienced BMW trainers to impart valuable knowledge on how best to utilise the power and driver assist features of our M and X models in a safe and responsible manner,” said Paul Yates, general manager of Euro Motors.
“Furthermore, it showcases the full capabilities of the powerful M Series vehicles and the versatility of the ‘X’ range, whether on track or off-road.”
Guests at the event had the opportunity to drive the full range of new vehicles from ‘M’, BMW’s sporty and dynamic sub-brand, including the all-new BMW M5, in addition to the BMW M3 Coupe, X5M and X6M. Invitees also experienced the all-wheel drive ‘X’ range, including the BMW X3, X5 and X6 in situations highlighting the vehicles’ capabilities.
“The popularity and excitement of our BMW M range still continues to grow, however, driving a car boasting the M logo remains an exclusive experience. The design, comfort, technology and engineering of the new BMW M5, which was revealed for the first time in Bahrain, are very different from the predecessor model,” Mr Yates added.
The new model features a newly-developed BMW M high-performance, high-revving, 4.4-litre V8 engine with an M Twin Power Turbo package.
The V8 engine produces 560hp from 6,000rpm and up to 680Nm of torque from 1,500rpm. This results in a lag-free power delivery giving typical M car thrust whilst delivering an improved balance between performance and fuel consumption. The new BMW M5 is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100km/h in 4.4 seconds and can reach a top speed of 305km/h.
The company says that the new BMW M5 has agile handling due to its rear axle differential with Active M Differential lock, which enables a fully variable distribution of power between the rear wheels.
Individually configured set-ups for the car can be chosen by the driver via the M Drive buttons on the steering wheel – changes can be made to the accelerator response, gearbox response, DSC modes, Dynamic Damper Control and information in the Head-Up Display.
The M sports seats are upholstered in Merino leather, and the cabin features a BMW Individual roof lining in Anthracite. There is also four-zone automatic climate control.
