The Arsenal Soccer School Bahrain Ladies League staged a football social tournament as the last whistle was blown this season at Batelco’s sporting grounds in Hamala.

An awards ceremony followed the fun tournament and sports writer Mai Al Khatib formally presented the GulfWeekly Premiership Trophy and medals to undefeated St Christopher’s Seniors alongside Arsenal’s senior coach and Bahrain national football player, Deena Rahman.

The Most Sporting Team award went to the Eastern Flames and the Player of the Season accolade went totheir goalkeeper Zam Zam Al Mahsoon.

Joga Bonito picked up the league runners-up prize. St Christopher’s Seniors also won the Cup competition beating Arsenal Blue in the final. The Plate winners were former cup champions Joga Bonito and the runners-up, Arsenal Red.

An award was also presented to Arsenal Soccer School Bahrain for organising the kingdom’s first national women’s football league competition.Rahman said: “We were very pleased to have an increase in the number of teams this season which meant more ladies playing football on the island. The quality of play has been excellent throughout the season with every team showing consistent improvement. We are eagerly looking forward to take to the field next season.”
