Hussain Salem emerged overall winner of Awali Golf Club’s annual Christmas Hamper competition. In ideal conditions Salem fired a fantastic level par gross score of 70 (nett 64) to win by a single stroke.
The winner of the first division was former Bahrain Open champion Diab Sager Al Naoimi. His fine net 66 was good enough to pip the in-form Graham Tole on countback. The final podium place in the first division was claimed by Abdulla Mubarak with a solid nett 68.
The second division was won by Richard Pawson with a wonderful nett 66. Abdul Elah Fakhro (nett 67) finished a stroke behind to claim second place followed closely by Barry Ward who finished with a nett 68.
Ros Kennedy was crowned winner of the third division with a superb nett 65. Kennedy’s score was the second best among the entire field and finished three shots ahead of Mark Hodgkinson who, in his first competition since gaining his handicap, scored an impressive nett 68.
In the battle for third place, Arunava Banerjee pipped KimYong Back on countback, also with a nett 68.
