THE Arsenal Ladies Football team have accepted an invitation to travel to Beirut to take part in two friendly matches against the Girls Football Academy (GFA).

The squad will comprise of 13 players, including five teenagers, and is being coached by Deena Rahman, an ex-England international and current Bahraini national team player.

ìThis is a great opportunity for our girls to experience playing 11-a-side football against some quality opposition.

ìWe are very grateful for the invitation and part-funding from GFA as it gives us the ideal preparation for later in the year when our older ladies head off to the Barcelona Cup, and our youngsters travel to Florida to compete in the Disney Cup.

"Many of our team played in London at the Arsenal Festival last year and although it was the first time that some had played 11-a-side, they did well and so we are looking to build on that."

The majority of the Arsenal squad are Bahraini, but just like the Arsenal first team, there are various nationalities in the squad, including players from Kazakhstan, Colombia, the US and England. The matches take place on March 16-17.
