THE annual Corona Classic was held at Awali Golf Club last weekend in testing conditions. The overall winner of the competition was Essa Al Qutami with a round of nett 66 (gross 72).
In the first division, Ali Musbah scored a gross 69 (nett 67) to claim first place. Awali Golf Club President Andy ‘Ace’ McAlpine also scored a nett 67 to finish in second place but lost on count back.
Salah Musbah finished in third place with a nett 69, just beating Pete Rogers who finished on the same score but also lost on count back.
In division two, Ali Danseh was the victor with an impressive nett 68. Keith Hindmarsh and Derek Hutchinson each finished with a nett 71 to claim second and third places respectively.
The African & Eastern Carlsberg competition will take place on Friday.
