Irreverent comedian Will Ferrell has announced plans for a second instalment of his 2004 hit comedy, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy.

Ferrell appeared on talk show Conan, in character, to break the news to an excited audience. He wore the famous burgundy suit and striped tie.

He said: “I want to announce this to everyone here in the Americas, to my friends in Spain, Turkey and the UK, including England ... as of 9am Mountain Time, Paramount Pictures and myself, Ronald Joseph Aaron Burgundy, have come to terms on a sequel for Anchorman. It is official; there will be a sequel.”

In 2010, director and co-writer of the film, Adam McKay, told MTV news that he expected that most of the first movie’s cast to come along for the sequel, which includes Steve Carell, Paul Rudd and Christina Applegate.
