The life story of visionary inventor Steve Jobs will be made into a movie based on an acclaimed biography of the late Apple co-founder.
The as yet unnamed project is being adapted for the big-screen by Aaron Sorkin, the Oscar-winning screenwriter behind The Social Network.
The film will reportedly be based on the authorised biography Steve Jobs by Walter Isaacson.
Sony Pictures Entertainment reportedly paid $1 million to buy the film rights just days after 56-year-old Jobs died of cancer last October.
Co-chairman of Sony Pictures Entertainment Amy Pascal said: “Steve Jobs’ story is unique. He was one of the most revolutionary and influential men not just of our time but of all time.
“There is no writer working in Hollywood today who is more capable of capturing such an extraordinary life for the screen than Aaron Sorkin; in his hands, we’re confident that the film will be everything that Jobs himself was; captivating, entertaining and polarising.”
A rival indie film is being put together with Ashton Kutcher cast in the lead, however, and producers hope to start shooting this month.
