A new reality game show called Motorfixations is to be launched shortly on Bahrain TV as part of a reconciliation campaign to bring the community together in creative, competitive and morale-boosting action.
Aspiring mechanics regardless of race, nationality and gender, aged 18 and above, are being offered the chance to take part in a month-long motoring programme … and may the best wheels win!
Cameras will follow five teams of five-to-seven contestants on a journey to create a working car by restoring an old banger using materials recovered from a scrap yard. Viewers will get to see the personalities of the participants and connect with them throughout the reality TV series.
Each team will be given a limited budget which they will not be allowed to exceed. They must set about restoring the vehicle into racing order and create their own mean machine from the parts at hand. The teams will have a sponsor as well as being assigned a specialist mechanic to work alongside.
Contestants will be involved in producing as well as designing the vehicles and must take part in rallies and competitions against the other teams. Small prizes will be won throughout the competition with the winning team receiving a big cash prize at the end of the adventure.
Motorfixations is the brainchild of Mayasem Communications and follows a recent reconciliation initiative entitled Wi7da Wa7da (one unity), best known for its ‘caravan of peace’ camels roving around the kingdom, helping to bring young people together who were caught up in last year’s unrest.
Shaikha Mai Al Otaibi, CEO of Mayasem Communications, said: “The show will also have a humanitarian segment to it. We will look into the personal backgrounds and discuss the participants’ lives, giving the audience a backdrop of what they are about.
“We also will try to help them with their personal dilemmas; we are aiming to follow a three-tiered objective here.
“We have been unequivocally supported by the Ministry of Social Development and Bahrain Civil Societies.”
Within the next two weeks, potential participants will be able to fill out application forms on www.wi7dawa7da.com, www.facebook.com/Wi7daWa7da or call 77227773 to book an appointment and apply in person.
