Subaru launched its new BRZ model at a ceremony at Bahrain City Centre, writes Charlie Holding.
The launch by Motor City, the marque’s distributor in the kingdom, took place in the presence of company officials and mall visitors who flocked to get a glimpse of it.
The new BRZ is set to lead the sports car segment in Bahrain and satisfy all the needs of enthusiasts, its makers claim.
Motor City CEO Bashar Darkazalli said: “Subaru, one of world’s most innovative automotive manufacturers, is scratching the limits of innovation and design with the BRZ, creating an instant winner in this segment.
“The new Subaru BRZ offers the performance and quality that customers have come to expect from Japanese cars coupled with Motorcity’s renowned service and customer care.”
The car has been built in cooperation with Toyota but rather than being a one-sided affair, the BRZ boasts qualities from both marques and is also one of the best-looking vehicles to bear either brand’s badge in decades, aside from perhaps its ‘sister car’, the recently-launched Toyota GT-86.
BRZ stands for ‘Boxer engine’, ‘Rear-wheel drive’, ‘Zenith’, which is apply named as under the bonnet this rear-wheel drive mean machine boasts a 2.0 litre direct fuel injection horizontal boxer engine that generates 200 hp, and a new six-speed automatic or manual transmission.
The BRZ comes with the latest safety inventions including a lightweight tough body that allows agility with safety, while the low centre of gravity makes the vehicle stable when driving at speed.
Other safety features includes front, side, curtain and knee SRS airbags, Anti-lock Brakes System, Electronic Brake Distribution, Vehicle Stability Control, and brake assist. Prices start from BD13,350.
