The Royal Golf Club (RGC) retained bragging rights after the annual match against Awali Golf Club (AGC) with a convincing 13 – 1 victory over their neighbours from the sand course. This followed an 11 – 3 victory in their 2011 encounter.

The annual event, which rotates between the clubs each year, was held on the RGC’s Montgomerie championship course in perfect conditions.

Many RGC members gave very impressive performances and David Rimmer, Depriest Daniels and youngster Nooh Esbai all made substantial contributions to the team’s winning margin.

Nearest the pin side contests were held for the Awali competitors on holes 7 and 16 and were won by Sarah Hobday and Jan McAlpine respectively. The Royal Golf Club’s nearest the pins on holes 2 and 12 were won by Peter O’Brien and Depriest Daniels respectively.

A prize-giving ceremony and lunch for all competitors was held at Awali Golf Club after the match.
