Gulf Weekly ‘Big pain’ Grant faces wrath of talk show host Stewart

HUGH Grant may be Hollywood’s go-to-guy for peculiar British charm, but he doesn’t seem to have charmed everyone. The actor has been banned from returning to The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, with Stewart himself claiming the star is a ‘big pain in the a**!’

Grant appeared on Stewart’s Comedy Central talk show in 2009 and now the host claims he would ‘never’ have him back, stating that he was his least favourite guest and ‘we’ve had dictators on the show’, he said.

The 52-year-old’s appearance on The Daily Show came when he was promoting the movie Did You Hear About the Morgans? In a recent interview with fellow satirical newsman Stephen Colbert, Stewart said that Grant spent much of the time at the studio complaining to staff and saying he had better places to be. “He’s giving everyone s**t the whole time, and he’s a big pain in the a**,” Stewart said.

Grant reportedly complained about the clip that was shown to promote the romantic comedy, which would have been provided by the flm’s publicist. Stewart responded: “Well, then make a better movie.” Hearing he’d been banned from The Daily Show, Grant attempted to make amends via Twitter, writing: “Turns out my inner crab got the better of me with TV producer in 09. Unforgivable. J Stewart correct to give me kicking

In July 2009, Time magazine held an online poll entitled ‘Now that Walter Cronkite has passed on, who is America’s most trusted newscaster?’ Jon Stewart won with 44 per cent of the votes.

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart airs everyday on OSN Comedy at 3.30pm and 9pm.
