A stunningly surreal Augmented Reality experience awaits visitors at Seef Mall over the next three months.
The mall, in cooperation with the National Geographic Channel, launched the initiative, which enables visitors to experience and get up close and personal with some of the content of the documentary channel.
Members of Bahrain’s media were treated to a preview of the event prior to its official launch during which Seef Properties general manager, Robert Addison, shared details about Augmented Reality, explaining the technology used to bring to life some of the world’s most fascinating animals like dolphins and extinct dinosaurs, and giving visitors first-hand experience with an astronaut and weather systems.
Mr Addison said: “Seef Mall brings in a new era of interactive technology through this event, which combines education with fun at the same time. National Geographic has always inspired many, we hope families, children and visitors of the mall will take advantage of this unique experience in Bahrain, which will be showcased at the mall for next few months.”
The initiative gives visitors the chance to visually interact with a range of moving images projected on a larger-than-life screen.
As the first person in Bahrain to experience the engaging programme, I took great delight running away from a T-Rex as well as a trio of snapping velociraptors and mimicking Michael Jackson’s infamous moonwalk near an astronaut, which all looked very impressive on the big-screen... the graphics, not my abysmal dancing!
The National Geographic Augmented Reality experience will be in the West Wing of Seef Mall daily from 10am to midday and 4pm to 10pm until mid-April.
