Diab Sager Al Noaimi demonstrated his quality play, coming home well clear on a gross-68, nett-63, as the overall winner in one of Awali Golf Club’s longest standing competitions – the Abdulla Ali Kanoo Cup, now in its 45th year.
Al Noaimi also took home the medal for best gross score.
Sponsored by Yusuf Bin Ahmed Kanoo, a large field of players enjoyed another day of light winds and blue skies.
A glittering array of prizes with a theme of garden lanterns were presented by Ahmed Abdulla Kanoo, son of the late chairman, in whose honour the competition is now named.
Results: Flight-1 – 1 Andy McAlpine (nett-65, gross 75), 2 John Loughnane (66/72), 3 Sultan Ahmed (67/75). Flight-2 – 1 Vidhu Mittal (69/89), 2 Jeffrey Barrett (69/89), 3 Steve Litherland (69/82) with Derek Hutchinson and Sarah Hobday losing on countback. Flight-3 – 1 Tony L Robinson (69/91), 2 Mark Hodgkinson (69/94), Lynn St Lawrence (71/92) with Joan Martin losing on countback.
