Eleven Year 11 students of St Christopher’s School, accompanied by Stuart Dodson (Head of Physics) and myself, were afforded a unique opportunity to spend the morning at Air Traffic Control (ATC) at the Bahrain International Airport.

The students entered the heart of operations in the Air Navigation Building and were fully briefed by ATC general manager Vinesh Dulabh on the high-tech navigation systems and procedures employed, having the chance to listen in to conversations between pilots and controllers.

Moving from the darkened room of the blinking computer screens and monitors, the students were invited to the control tower courtesy of senior air traffic control officer Richard Phillips and were afforded glorious 360 degree views of the airport, following civilian and military planes from taxi to take-off into the blue skies of Bahrain.

This was a highly enjoyable and informative visit and we are indebted to ATC for their kind invitation.

International trainer and author Adrian Henson re-launched the three-day leadership development course ‘Going the Extra Mile’ at the end of March in Bahrain.

The programme combined diverse challenges and created unique outdoor desert experiences, which were both demanding and rewarding.

The desert experience helped to build self-awareness and confidence while indoor and outdoor activities highlighted leadership strengths and weaknesses in an inspirational and safely controlled environment.

The participants involved in the programme were magnificent in their efforts, showing what great talent Bahrain has.

By providing a programme in a location unique to Bahrain, the candidates left feeling motivated and enthused by their memorable experiences.

‘Going the Extra Mile’ has tangible outcomes and constructive feedback is given throughout. We provide opportunities for delegates to reflect and analyse. This achieves an emotionally engaging understanding of the experience to ensure delegates don’t forget the lessons learnt.

As a result of this latest success, Adrian is offering the course in Bahrain on May 7-9 or 14-16. For more information, visit https://adrianhensontrainer.wix.com/hr-development, or contact Adrian on 0044 7544491998 or Gary Taylor on 39028523.
