THE Boxtones, one of Bahrain’s most popular bands, will be returning to the kingdom to headline the British Club’s annual Spring Ball on May 2.
The fab five are made up of Gary Tierney, lead guitarist, and his sister Gill, on drums - both former pupils at St Christopher’s School. Gary’s fiance Louise Peel is lead vocalist, with Patrick Thibault playing bass and Will Janssen on keyboards.
Although now based in Dubai they retain a huge fan-base here built up after entertaining at Friday brunch specials and after-party sessions.
Gary said: “We have had consecutive gigs playing in one of the world’s best tourist destinations, playing events at the Dubai Marina and the Palm, shows in Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, and some great clubs in downtown Dubai.
“We figured that it was going so well that we decided to open our own entertainment services company in February of this year – supplying our own abilities throughout the Gulf for corporate gigs, weddings, major club/social events, parties, high profile events – you name it, we’ve done it or will be doing it!
“We are also working pretty hard getting our original material together, and have scheduled our album ‘In the Pockets of Clowns’ for a late 2013 release. We are gigging it live right now, and getting positive feedback, which is encouraging!”
