DYNAMIC Desert Divas took on London Arsenal in a guelling encounter at Soccer City and took an early lead through Anna Hansen in the latest GulfWeekly-sponsored Arsenal Soccer School Bahrain Ladies League clash.
It was cancelled out, however, by a fne fnish from Saja Kamal. Both teams played adventurous and attacking football and Divas were rewarded when a throw in was met at the far post by Shauna Nearing. Nearing added to her frst goal with another on the stroke of half time.
In the second half Arsenal London worked hard to get back into the game and were rewarded with two quick goals, another from Kamal and the equaliser from Sarah Welch.
It was then a battle for who could grab all three points and it looked as though a draw was on the cards until Katie Dupre came up with a fne goal right on full time for Divas.
In match two, Venus kicked off their season with a win against Joga TFA. Joga took the lead through Eman Ebrahim, but Venus found their way through Anastazia Salinis who scored a hat-trick and to seal a 3-1 victory.
In the final game of the night Arsenal Reds outgunned Junior Gunners. Dalal Abdulrahim scored the only goal in the first half but Reds continued to dominate.
In the second half another goal from Abdulrahim, a free kick from Janet Kellagher and a final blast from Thuraya Alwaary produced a 4-0 victory.
