MONOCHROME and stripes are back with an energetic force this season, especially in Moschino’s 2013 Spring/Summer collection, writes Mai Al Khatib.

The Italian fashion house recently unveiled its trendy attire in its Bahrain boutique in Al Aa’li Shopping Complex, boasting minimal proportions, geometric lines and colourful graphic designs.

Shahnaz Al Baloushi, Moschino’s assistant manager, said: “Our customers are excited about the new collection; especially the bright, fruit printed dresses for example featuring pineapples. They also love our colourful hued outfts in green, purple and peach.

“We have a good selection of loose- ftted dresses, perfect for the beach with shell embellishments.

“We also have a mixture of outfts and jumpsuits in monochrome and brightly coloured foral prints. I noticed that customers love our belts and bags, especially the ones with Moschino written across them in metallics.”

Inspired by the 1960s, the labels creative director and designer, Rossella Jardini, put together edgy two-toned black and white ensembles that featured thick outlines to highlight pockets, hemlines and button-up tops.

The silhouettes are short and sweet featuring mini-skirts, mosaic mirror shift dresses, short double-breasted jackets with gobstopper buttons and coats that fnish high on the thigh, reminiscent of the sixties era.

These outfts were defnitely made for confdent women with a great set of pins.

Although monochrome is hot right now, summer is still all about colour, which is why Moschino included a range of bright hues for bubbly and light-hearted individuals.

Reds, pinks, marigold, orange, and cobalt blue outfts all have a playful innocence about them in jump suits and ‘Go Go Girl’ dresses. These groovy Mod looks are further enhanced by fower print outfts covered in three-dimensional sequined daisies and butterfies as well as Sangallo patchwork.

Moschino, one of the retailers under the multi-trading business umbrella of Remza Investment Group, has designed outfts in the past for events including the opening ceremony of the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, Kylie Minogue’s 2005 Showgirl -The Greatest Hits Tour and Madonna’s 2008 Sticky & Sweet Tour.

Prices vary starting from BD200 for bags and BD60 and above for clothing.
