ONE of the Indian community’s most celebrated events, Akshay Trithiya, falls next Monday and booking counters are now open at Devji jewellers in Bahrain.

The word Akshaya means imperishable or eternal – that which never diminishes. Initiations made or valuables bought on this day are considered to bring success or good fortune.

Buying gold is a popular activity on Akshaya Tritiya, as it is the ultimate symbol of wealth and prosperity. Gold and gold jewellery bought and worn on this day signify undiminishing good fortune. Indians celebrate Hindu weddings, begin new business ventures, and even plan long journeys on this day.

Jewellery fabricated at Devji’s manufacturing unit in Bahrain are made from fine gold bars as against the ‘usual practice’ of fabricating jewellery from scrap gold, which already contains various alloys.

The jewellery is pure with long-lasting colour and finish. Devji’s jewellery is made from fine gold ounces from Switzerland and is manufactured under strict quality control to ensure that the purity and luster of 22k gold remains intact.

A company spokesman said: “Another important factor about Devji gold is that it is Cadmium free. Cadmium and Nickel are two main elements used in fabricating jewellery. Cadmium is used for soldering and Nickel is used as alloys.

“At Devji, jewellery is free from these alloys our customers can derive maximum value from gold when it is resold since the wastage content is nil.”

A team of Devji designers has been working on creating jewellery for Akshay Trithiya, which has elements of tradition and fashion matched to perfection. “These designs are unique and appreciated back home as well,” the spokesman added. “The latest addition of ‘Napoli set diamonds’ into the Tara range of diamond jewellery is a testimony to this.

“Devji believes in providing its clientele with top quality VVS grade diamonds at affordable prices. Care is extended to produce diamond jewellery with good colour and clarity in Bahrain. Devji procures high quality rough diamonds and cut them in perfect and unique proportions.

“New pieces have also been added to the Tamanna, Tanvi and Anagha collections.”

As is the custom at Devji, every jewellery purchase made on the auspicious day of Akshay Trithiya is entitled to a complimentary silver coin.
