THE highly-anticipated sequel to last summer’s blockbuster The Avengers is being delayed due to ‘tense’ cast negotiations.

Deadline reported that following the revelation that Robert Downey Jr earned an estimated $50 million for Joss Whedon’s The Avengers, the rest of the ensemble cast are negotiating for similar deals.

However, the Iron Man star has yet to sign up for the sequel or any other flms following the fulflment of his contractual obligations to Marvel.

Other Avengers cast members including Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Mark Ruffalo and Samuel L Jackson have also yet to sign up to the sequel. Meanwhile, Chris Evans reportedly made a deal for The Avengers 2 at the same time as Captain America: The Winter Soldier, locking him into a six movie deal with the company.

According to Deadline, Marvel has allegedly threatened to sue actors – for those who are still bound by contracts and options – or recast their roles.

In response, Downey Jr is reportedly getting involved in his fellow cast members’ negotiations, putting pressure on Marvel to offer them better deals.
