Gulf Weekly Who will be crowned the next American Idol?

AMONG all the hopefuls, it’s down to just Candice Glover and Kree Harrison, and the stakes have never been higher in one of American Idol’s most heated battles for the title.
Following last week’s elimination of Angie Miller, Candice and Kree are the two women left standing in a fght to the fnish.

They will now prepare for their fnal showdown performance, airing tomorrow at 8pm on OSN First HD, when America’s votes will decide who will join the ranks of Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and Phillip Phillips to become the next American Idol.

The next day, on Friday, at 8pm, it’s the moment viewers have been waiting for – one of the most exciting nights on television as season 12 culminates with a grand fnale and a new idol winner!

Candice, 24, was born in Beaufort, South Carolina to John and Carole Glover, and is the oldest of seven siblings.

She auditioned in nearby Charlotte and had previously auditioned in seasons 9, 10 and 11. She was cut during the fnal 70 round during season 9, eliminated by producers during season 10 and in season 11, she made it to the Las Vegas rounds and was grouped with that season’s fnalists DeAndre Brackensick and eventual season 11 runner-up Jessica Sanchez, where she was eliminated at the Top 40 Las Vegas week.

During her audition in 2013, she sang Syrop & Honey by Duffy where she received a standing ovation. Judge Randy Jackson noted that she was the best performer by far in the competition.

During the TV heats she covered Lovesong by The Cure and broke down in tears after receiving a roaring standing ovation. Jackson commented that it was not only one of the best American Idol performances, but very well may be the one of the best performances ever on any talent show.

When asked what winning would mean to them, Candice said: “It would mean the absolute world. I defnitely feel like, no matter what, I’ve come so far. Everything I’ve worked for will have paid off.”

Kree, 23, was born in Port Arthur in Texas. Her parents, Clint and Kathy Harrison were married in 1993 on Valentine’s Day.

At the age of three, she asked her pastor if she could sing during church. The request was accepted and after she sang, her pastor said: “I was expecting Jesus Loves Me, but she belted out El Shaddai by Amy Grant. I knew then this child had a special gift.”

Kree went on to sing at rodeos, weddings and competitions. At age eight, she was the opening act for R&B star Percy Sledge. TV shows followed until she received the tragic news that her father had been killed in a plane crash. She was only 12 when her father died. The experience led her to return home to Texas and put her music career on hold.

Kree said: “Winning would mean so much because it would mean the sooner I’d get to make my record! More than anything, I would feel accomplished, knowing that I could make music.”
