Action star Arnold Schwarzenegger is said to be in talks for a remake of a 1980s cult classic, the Toxic Avenger.
According to Variety , the former governor of California is negotiating for a starring role in Steve Pink’s reboot of the film.
The original Toxic Avenger starred Mark Torgl as Melvin Ferd, a weakling who is transformed into a crime-fighting vigilante with superhuman strength after falling into a barrel of toxic waste.
Produced by Troma Entertainment, the avant-garde action comedy was a commercial failure upon its 1984 release. However, it soon gained popularity as a cult classic through midnight screenings.
Elysium Films are attached to produce the remake, and Pink – who will direct – has written the script alongside Daniel C Mitchell.
