Hard Rock Café Bahrain partnered with the US Embassy to raise funds for The Children & Mothers Welfare Society with an American ‘trivia night’ fundraiser.
The event attracted around 200 guests including the American Ambassador to Bahrain, Thomas Krajeski, and his wife, Bonnie, as well as representatives from Bahrain School and Riffa Views International School.
Megan van Niekerk, sales & marketing co-ordinator of Hard Rock Café Bahrain, said: “We pride ourselves in the fact that philanthropy makes up such a big part of our core values and therefore hosting a charity event like this was something we really wanted to execute successfully and what a success it was, people flocked from all over the city and were more than willing to pay the BD5 ticket entry fee that was charged in aid of the charity!
“It was a night of pure fun, laughter, music and overall enjoyment for both young and old. I am overwhelmed at the positive response we received for this event and hope to host many more similar events in the near future, so watch this space Bahrain!”
There were four rounds on American movies, history, music and famous quotes which saw 20 teams competing. In the end, a team called It’s Bah-raining Men came out on top, piping the competition.
The night featured a lucky draw, consisting of merchandise and BMMI vouchers and the biggest prize was two flight tickets sponsored by Qatar Airlines.
Ambassador Krajeski said: “The Hard Rock Café did a fantastic job with this event.”
Mrs Krajeski added: “The Children and Mother’s Welfare Society does a lot of good for Bahrain and we are very happy to be able to support them.”
The event raised BD900 for the charity, established in 1953. Today it is considered as one of the leading women’s societies in Bahrain with over 400 active members.
The society has aimed to involve both working women and housewives in volunteer activities with the aim of bettering the society with their talents.
Through its working committees the society aims to raise women’s cultural standards, enhance their awareness of social issues, and promote their rights and duties as active individuals in the Bahraini community.
