Bahrain City Centre’s staff and members of the GulfWeekly team helped kick-start the mall’s ‘Make a Difference this Ramadan’ campaign with the first bags of donations collected for the cause, writes Mai Al Khatib-Camille.
Readers are being urged to join us and once again open their hearts and lend the needy a helping hand during Ramadan.
GulfWeekly has linked up with Bahrain City Centre (BCC) again to back the mall’s initiative, which urges customers to donate everyday items such as clothing, books, non-perishable food and eye glasses.
A special collection box has been placed in the mall’s ground floor behind the customer service desk so that shoppers can drop off donations.
Duaij Khalifa Al Rumaihi, senior mall manager, joined his colleagues in making the first contribution. He said: “This is the fourth year Bahrain City Centre has been hosting the ‘Make a Difference this Ramadan’ charity campaign and we are pleased that with the help of community partners such as GulfWeekly we are able to collect more items.
“Together, we inaugurated the campaign by encouraging our own staff to donate goods and encourage others to do the same this Ramadan.”
GulfWeekly reporter Mai Al Khatib-Camille also brought along bags full of useful items to help the cause.
She said: “It’s amazing the amount of things you have at home that you no longer want or use that could be donated to help make a difference, or simply bring a smile to the face of someone experiencing a hard time.”
All goods donated during the holy month will be sorted for distribution by members of the Al Noor Charity Welfare Society, which has been supporting those in need throughout the kingdom for more than 15 years.
The society was founded by its president Shaikha Lamia bint Mohammed Al Khalifa to provide funding for educational and medical matters alongside other initiatives.
For those interested in contributing to the campaign visit the customer service desk and the assistants will supply shoppers with bags to fill and drop off into the collection box.
