Gulf Weekly Lindsay leads team to victory

British Ambassador Ian Lindsay led his team to victory in the Think Pink Bahrain men’s charity golf tournament at the Royal Golf Club.

His team, consisting of David Wales, Ben Elsworth and Cormac Flannery scored 27.3 nett in the Texas Scramble tournament which has raised more than BD1,500 for the breast cancer awareness charity.

Club Captain Ebrahim Esbai’s team, consisting of Riyad Al Saie, Ahmed Sultan and Chris McDonnell were runners-up with a score of 27.4 while Bijan Majidi, Murtuz Zamanly, Steve Hinnant and Andy Weiser took third place with 27.7.
Nearest the pin side contests on holes 12 and 16 were won by Patrick Leslie and Matt Doyle respectively.

A full field of 48 players, many of whom were dressed in pink, took part in the popular annual event which was sponsored by BMI Bank, Gulf Brands, Highland Springs and the Royal Golf Club.

“The weather was perfect for this event and the course is in pristine condition,” said Flannery, the Royal Golf Club’s golf operations manager. “For my team to win was a great bonus on a very enjoyable night for a great cause. Many thanks to sponsors and well done to all the participants.”

The annual ladies event tees off today.

Results: 1st: David Wales, Ian Lindsay, Ben Elsworth & Cormac Flannery (27.3), 2nd Ebrahim Esbai, Riyad Al Saie, Ahmed Sultan & Chris McDonnell (27.4), 3rd Bijan Majidi, Murtuz Zamanly, Steve Hinnant & Andy Weiser (27.7). Nearest the pins: Patrick Leslie (hole 12) & Matt Doyle (hole 16).
