The Whisperer likes the way they do things at Awali Golf Club. The club said ‘au-revoir’ to two of its most devoted members, Ian and Val Jennings who, after five years in Bahrain, are leaving for pastures new at the beginning of November.
Club officials thanked them for their contribution to the club, Ian with sponsorship and other behind-the-scenes work, and Val for her services on both the main committee and Bahrain Ladies Open committee. On Friday Team DHL flew home to victory in the Sponsors’ Trophy team Stableford competition.
The day’s event, sponsored by Awali Golf Club, was a ‘thank you’ for the generosity of all the sponsoring companies throughout the season. DHL’s players – Geoff Devlin, Phil Newland, Warren Baker and Peter Marriott, romped home as the winners with 135 points, DHL were 12 clear of runners-up Team Studio-RCT on 123 points.
Other teams, not in the prizes, were 4th: Airmech, 5th: Shaikh Hamed Bin Salman Al Khalifa, 6th: NHSC, 7th: Bapco-A, 8th: Hempels Paints, 9th: Ace Insurance, 10th: YBA Kanoo, 11th: AGC, 12th: KTC, 13th: Bapco-B, 14th: Pan-Gulf, 15th: Al-Haddad, 16th: Nass.
