Twin Palms Riding Centre hosted a successful Show Jumping Weekend in unseasonably scorching weather.

Friday’s event was once again extremely well attended with classes split between and junior and adult, with two-phase classes to start with.

If contestants were clear in the first part, they went into a timed jump-off to race for success.

The first winner of the day was the talented Ahmed Isa who rode majestically to both first and second place with Tutu and Shummar respectively. Following into third position was Aimee Keen astride Onyx.

For the adults it was again a double victory, this time for Mahmood taking first and second position on his horses Tofan and Najib. Third place for the adult in this class was Khalid Janahi riding My Baby.

Winning the second class of the morning for the juniors was mighty teen sensation Aimee Keen back among the honours with Rio. Megan Docherty riding Morano was runner-up with Fahad Ahmed riding Wajab into third place.

Winning for the adults was Basel Al Dossari astride Tayar and taking home his second prize of the day was Khalid Janahi on My Baby. Flying into third position was Liz Sinclair and Boeing.

The final class for Friday was an Accumulator with fences of 110cms and a Joker standing at an imposing 130cms.

It was the calculated talent of Luna Dreyer riding Calypso that triumphed in this class. The pair had gone for a steady round, and, whilst not taken the Joker, they had been clear throughout the course.

Both Manon Cote riding Sirocco and Ahmed Isa riding Osina also had great rounds too but choosing the Joker option meant when a fence came down the pair faced 18 faults, putting them into second and third place.

For the adults it was a very close round, with three horses clearing the Joker in excellent times. Stephan Dreyer made it a father/daughter double winning act by clinching the class. Hussain Al Busta rode a fabulous round on Tenor to take home second place. Landing in third place was Jerri Taylor and Airforce 1.

The following morning featured a fun show jumping session. To start the morning off was the much-loved pairs event. This is a fabulous class to watch and it had everyone on the edge of their seats rooting for their favourites.

Winning this class in fantastic style was Molly Eve Wharton riding Aztec coupled with Virginie Dreyer riding Athos. The pair flew round, though close on their hooves was Maggie Andersson with Banjo paired with Carson Elias with Fine Art, and taking third position was Aimee Keen riding Mohito and Jamiela Haseid astride Nafa.

Next up was the ride and drive featuring a wheelbarrow to the finish line … hilarious and fantastic fun.  Driving into poll position in this class was Maisie Brandreth riding Red, second was Maryam Al Khalifa riding Cash, and in third place was Kristina Gafner astride Dollar.

The final class for this event was an Accumulator with Joker, fences were up to 70cms and the Joker stood at 90cms. Taking home top slot was that girl again, Aimee Keen riding Billy. Armani Hussain took second placing with Eid, and Melanie Spink brought Billy back into the line-up in third place, rounding off the weekend’s events.

Both shows were thoroughly enjoyed by all participants and Twin Palms Riding Centre would like to specifically thank sponsors Horse Pride/Room to Rock/Amritlal Jewellers/Al Hoty Analytical Services/Miranda Tanning / Gina Fourie Hair/Neatfeet Sarah Marples/Dessange/Martine Smith/Tara Bishop Equine Dental & Genevive Joyce Equine Manual Therapya, as well as all the contestants and supporters on both days.
