The best and worst thing about humour is that it’s subjective; what one person loves, another may hate and there is often a fine line between the two.
We all love a laugh, and plenty were had at the latest Chuckle Club event. The show took place over two nights in two locations, one at the Bahrain Rugby Club and the other at the InterContinental Regency hotel.

First on stage was Gavin Webster, a British northerner with a love of one-liners. I must admit, he had me giggling about how he was mixed-race, ‘my mum was a woman and my dad was a man’.
Sadly, the rest of his set just didn’t resonate with me. Hats off to him though, he tried hard to get the crowd behind him but sadly never really managed it.
Next up was my favourite comedian of the night, the fabulous (and I mean that in every sense of the word) Tom Allen.
He was delightfully off topic and regaled the audience with tales of his awkward social interactions and life growing up.
His velvety style of delivery sits brilliantly atop an iron fist of hard-hitting comedy. I was in stitches from his first to last joke and think he should definitely return for another show.
Rounding off the evening’s entertainment was Irishman Owen O’Neill. I know it’s an easy card to play, but he had some super gags about being ginger and pale.
I liked his delivery and his rehearsed material was great, but his interactions with the crowd were priceless.
A fine instalment of the Chuckle Club.
