Alba, one of the leading aluminium smelters in the world, has appointed Abdul Rahman Janahi, pictured above, as its new director of administration.
He joined the company in 1976 as an apprentice. In 2004 he was promoted to a superintendent at the Calciner and Marine Department and then ultimately manager of the department.
He has also worked as the manager in the Carbon 1 & 2 Department and most recently was promoted to senior manager of human resources in 2013. Over the past year he was given the opportunity to be acting director of administration as part of his career development plan.
Alba CEO Tim Murray said: “Abdul is another shining example of Alba’s commitment to develop our people from within the company. He started as a young apprentice and has now worked his way up to one of the most senior roles in the company. I look forward to seeing him complete his MBA and his continued contribution to the Alba leadership team.”
