If you think it bears more than a passing resemblance to the Batmobile, that’s beacause its makers have succeeded in their goal to create a ride ‘fit for superheroes’.

Toyota has revealed a second interior styling and exterior colour for an upscale interpretation of its FT-1 sports car concept.

The latest interpretation of the concept coupe features new graphite paintwork in place of the vibrant red featured on the original concept, first seen at this year’s Detroit Motor Show. There is also a new interior treatment, with saddle tan leather elements to give a more sophisticated feel.

The FT-1’s interior designers drew their inspiration from modern superhero films, particularly their use of high-tech performance materials for the character’s costumes.

The Toyota FT-1 concept’s design is a fusion of both emotional and rational factors that delivers an exciting and dramatic design expression with a unique Toyota identity, its makers say.

This new interpretation of the FT-1 with its sensational visual presence will set the stage for more from Toyota in its efforts to create the best in car design.

Although, sadly, it won’t be seen on a real road any time soon, players of the Playstation game Gran Turismo 6 will be able to download three different versions of the FT-1: both red and graphite models together with the high-performance ‘Vision GT’ edition.
