Footballing legends Graeme Souness and Gordon Banks will be coming to Bahrain today at the Diplomat Radisson Blu Hotel, Residence & Spa. TV pundit and former Scotland international Souness played with Liverpool, Rangers and Sampdoria, winning three European Cups, nine league titles and a plethora of British domestic trophies. The Indian Ladies Association is presenting the Dandiya Beats Dance Show, featuring a traditional folk dance form from Gujarat, tomorrow at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Manama at 8pm. It marks the start of this festive season that leads up to Diwali.

The Dandiya dance is something even a novice can enjoy. Led by experienced groups, even a first-timer can step into the rhythm, following the formation in a circle and striking his/her decorated wooden sticks to the beat of catchy music. There will also be well-choreographed dance performances, high-end acoustics and people dressed in made-to-order, bright costumes to liven up the day.

British singing sensation Leona Lewis, left, winner of popular UK talent show The X-Factor will open the 23rd Bahrain International Music Festival at the National Theatre on October 9.

The festival, by the Ministry of Culture, has lined up a variety of musical acts for the occasion to represent diverse cultures and genres.

With a career spanning eight years, Lewis is the best-selling act to have emerged from The X Factor, with over 20 million albums sold worldwide, as well as being the British female solo artist with most weeks at number one in the UK.

Tickets for Leona Lewis range from BD40 for Zone A, BD35 for Zone B, BD30 for Zone C and BD20 for Zone D and are sold at Virgin Mega Store. The show starts at 8pm.
