BIG-HEARTED hotel workers at a leading hotel in the kingdom have made an impact in the community by tackling a house renovation task for a local family in need.

The team members from The Ritz-Carlton, Bahrain Hotel & Spa headed to Isa Town to volunteer their services as part of an initiative launched by their parent group.

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company has become a founding partner of Impact 2030, a global initiative for the advancement of corporate volunteering.

“Through it, the power of many will be the force that will allow us to make a significant impact,” said Herve Humler, president and chief operations officer of The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company. “In communities where we do business, we will be collaborating with corporate partners and other stakeholders to help address critical issues.”

The move was introduced at the United Nations earlier this month as part of International Volunteer Day allowing partner companies to showcase the meaningful difference their employees are making locally, nationally and internationally through corporate volunteering and using it as a powerful tool to address social and environmental concerns and inspire the private sector to positive action.

To celebrate the landmark partnership The Ritz-Carlton properties around the GCC organised an array of activities – from programmes training local students in the craft of hospitality to helping local charities spruce up their surroundings.

In Bahrain, a team of 12, namely Rashed Fath Ali, Nora Limiarti, Faruk Molongi, Joselito Sone, Femees Muttasamarakath, Hakeem Yakubu Bello, Irfan, Suresh Babu, Luisito Abejar, Johnny Babul, Rasha Ghoul and Poppy Agustin, pulled together to make a difference to a family home currently lived in by eight people.

Owner Salih Al Faraj was said to be ‘very happy’ as the Ritz-Carlton’s dashing dozen set about painting and decorating and sprucing up the property for the first time since its construction in 1968.

The focus areas for The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company’s own social and environmental responsibility programme, Community Footprints, are hunger and poverty relief, child well-being and environmental responsibility.

Through the combined efforts of all of the ‘Ladies and Gentlemen’, as employees are called, the Community Footprints teams have reached out to 100 communities in 28 countries and territories throughout the world.

The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company currently operates 87 hotels in the Americas, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and the Caribbean. More than 30 hotel and residential projects are under development around the globe.
