Internationally-renowned Italian handbag manufacturer Francesco Biasia opened their first boutique in Bahrain last week.
The new store opened its doors to shoppers in the new extension of the Al Aali Shopping Complex on Thursday evening.
One shopper was so eager to get her hands on a handbag that she couldn’t resist sneaking in and buying one before the ribbon was cut.
Neda Mohammed who co-owns the store with her brother Faisal Mohammed said, “it’s taken months to organise, but we’re very excited to have opened the first Biasia store in Bahrain.”
Faisal Mohammed said: “It’s been a lot of hard work, allocating the right location and creating the right ambience.”
The new store is the 18th worldwide.
International retail manager, Manuela Cabianca, who was at the launch said: “This year is the 30th anniversary of Francesco Biasia – so it’s a young company that is constantly growing. Every season we grow and improve.”
She added: “After a few visits to the kingdom, we identified this lovely country as a suitable and fertile market for our brand as it boasts a lovely blend of traditional and cosmopolitan lifestyles; a combination that makes Bahrain the perfect ground for our brand and accessories.”
Despite it relative youth, Biasia has acemented an international reputation and its leather accessories are some of the most sought-after worldwide.
The company has come a long way in the last 30 years, growing from a small workshop of talented craftsmen to an international brand with stores throughout Europe, Japan, the US and the Middle East.
Marcopolo retail manager, Christina Passanante said: “A handbag is more than a utilitarian object to carry your daily essentials. Our objective at Biasia is to ensure that each of our creations is unique and caters to women who want to make a statement and step out of the norm.
“Our collections are sure to cross all sections of customary handbags with the use of vibrant and beautiful contrasts of flamboyant colours and materials that emphasise quality.”
Handbags range in price from BD130 to BD255. Among the brand’s most popular designs is the Golden Erin which comes in gold, brown, silver and navy.
