For the second year, Motorcity Holding, in association with the Royal Golf Club, will host The Volvo World Golf Challenge tournament in Bahrain.

Since its launch in 1988 as the Volvo Masters Amateur, more than one million golfers from all over the world have competed in the event. National winners are invited to play in a world final.

The 2015 Bahrain Volvo World Golf Challenge will consist of three qualification rounds, and are likely to attract more than 100 players per event.
 
The 2015 Bahrain Volvo World Golf Challenge calendar:
* Saturday – 1st Qualifier
* Saturday, September 5 – 2nd Qualifier
* Saturday, October 10 – 3rd Qualifier
* Saturday, November 14 – Final
* Final Volvo World Golf Challenge – Date and location to be announced

The winners of the Volvo World Golf Challenge Final across several countries will complete a journey that has begun with 500 qualifying tournaments worldwide.

Last year’s local challenge took place over six qualifying rounds with the final round played over 18 holes at the Colin Montgomerie-designed championship course last December. The world final will start on Saturday and run until April 30 in Shanghai, China. Bahrain will be represented by Faraan Irfan and Alan Vandewater who will compete against 72 amateur golfers from 32 different countries.

During the press conference held at the Royal Golf Club on Monday, Dr Bijan Majidi, Motorcity’s general manager, said: “Last year’s tournament was a huge success and we look forward to this year’s event. Organising a year-long tournament in Bahrain is part of the strategy of Motorcity to position Volvo and present its new range of models not only to the participants but to all visitors and followers of the beautiful game of golf.”
