MORE than 1,000 jobs are to be created at a new resort close to the Bahrain International Circuit.
Phase 1 of the BD377 million Salam Resort, Bahrain, is due to be completed by the end of 2009 and will include a 285-room luxury beach hotel, seven waterfront hotel villas, a state-of-the-art conference centre, six royal villas on a private island, a spa and 33 spa suites.
The second phase will include suq-style retail outlets and a residential community which is expected to be completed by 2011.
The project is being developed by Sama Dubai, the international real estate investment and development arm of Dubai Holding.
The resort will be run by Jumeirah International, the luxury international hospitality group, which is also part of Dubai Holding.
Sama Dubia executive chairman Farhan Faraidooni said: "Salam Resort Bahrain is expected to generate approximately 1,050 jobs, a major proportion of which will be filled by Bahrainis."
