Gulf Weekly Al Hakam triumphs

Scratch Bahraini golfer Abdulla Al Hakam was crowned champion of the Black Tee Challenge at the Royal Golf Club after achieving a gross score of 74, narrowly beating last year’s winner Nasser Yaqoob who achieved a gross score of 75.

The annual event, held on the club’s Montgomerie championship course, is a real test of golf with competitors playing from the black tees, making the course a challenging 7,243 yards long. With many of the holes playing into the breeze, it was a difficult task for even the best players.

While Al Hakam claimed the gross title, there were additional prizes in the nett category too. Jason McNamara won first place with nett 72 while Al Hakam took the runners-up spot with 74 nett.

Results: Best Gross: 1st Abdulla Al Hakam (74), 2nd Nasser Yaqoob (75). Best Nett: 1st Jason McNamara (72), 2nd Abdulla Al Hakam (74). 2’s Club Winner: Barry Hobday.
