Nearest the pin side contests were held on all the par 3 holes on the club’s Montgomerie Championship Course while Sam Hobday won a prize for achieving the longest drive on hole 13.

A nearest the pin in two shots side contest on hole 18 was won by Tim Billa.
Results: 1st Claus Hansen (73 nett), 2nd Stewart Hutchinson (76), 3rd Tony Meakin (77). Nearest the pins: Dagfrid Berge (holes 2 & 16), Claus Hansen (hole 7), Tim Billa (hole 12). Nearest the pin in 2 Shots: Tim Billa (hole 18). Longest Drive: Sam Hobday (hole 13).

The Royal Golf Club’s team of PGA Teaching Professionals has introduced a new course layout for junior golfers to encourage them to make the transition from the par 3 Mini Monty academy course to the more challenging Montgomerie Championship Course.

The par 70 course layout features holes ranging in length from 71 yards up to 161 yards, providing youngsters of all ages with a true test of both their long- and short-game skills.

Parents wishing to play alongside their kids are reminded of the club’s Troon Family Day offer – for every paying adult teeing off after 3pm, a child aged 15 years or below can play for free. This offer is valid any day of the week for families playing on either golf course and includes free hire clubs for children.
