SHAKHOORA Riding Stables held a successful Show Jumping event on Friday Ö and it just goes to show you that size isn’t everything.

Anna and Ellen Goode own a lovely Russian endurance pony called Mystery, a 17-year-old Kabardian mountain pony standing at under 15hh.

However, for a small horse he not only has a big heart but a huge attitude.

Mystery is a regular competitor in the stable-run competitions. Usually the only small horse to compete he always manages a placing.

He has been in Bahrain since 1995 after being imported from Russia to compete in the Junior Endurance competitions. Previously Mystery was owned by a young Carmen Lauri, who was 12 at the time, and the pair excelled together.

On Friday history was able to repeat itself - reunited for the show, Carmen, now 18, astride Mystery, got straight back into winning ways.

They took first place in both the 50cm and 80+cms classes, battling it out and beating everyone after jump-offs against the clock.
