The Mövenpick Bahrain is going completely Yankee-Doodle Dandy again with a series of US-style promotions … and one of New York’s most celebrated jazz acts will be flying into the kingdom specially to join the party.
Taking his favourite blue jeans out of the wardrobe, hotel general manager Daniel Kaan is determined to put on a spread in the coming weeks to impress the loyal US expats and service personnel who regularly flock to the dining destination.
He said: “The huge success and fantastic feedback received on the American Festival 2014 made the decision for a continuation very easy.
“We are proud to have a large client base from the US and feel it is a great way to give many of our guests a ‘home away from home’ feeling by adding an American theme to our already popular events.
“This year the programme is much more exciting with new additions such as a very talented jazz band flying in from New York.”
The festival will be packed with events, including a:
Wild, Wild West Weekend on October 29 & 30
Jazz Weekend featuring Professor Cunningham and his Old School on November 5, 6 & 7
And a Hollywood Weekend on November 12 & 13
Take a growling horn section, a grooving and soulful rhythm section, a woodwind/vocalist front-man, add the soul of a New Orleans party, and you’ve got Professor Cunningham and his Old School.
The act perform a swinging and grooving repertoire deeply steeped in the New Orleans tradition from early jazz to early R&B. Band leader, vocalist and saxophone and clarinet player Adrian Cunningham told GulfWeekly: “I’m excited to be coming to Bahrain!
“I have toured many places – aside from music, travel is my passion. I love to see how many different ways we as people can live and be happy. This is a new part of the world for me to visit. I’m very excited to meet the people and experience a culture that is very different from my own.”
But first, the Muharraq venue is preparing for its opening Wild Wild West Weekend and rodeo starting with a Thursday night outdoor BBQ (BD27) followed by a Friday Brunch (BD31) with a genuine cowboy twist and an adventurous bull ride attraction.
And diners will be invited to take a stroll through ‘Hollywood Boulevard’ and shine like a star at the final fling’s glamourous Hollywood event. They can dress up as their ‘beautiful self or their favourite celebrity’ as the venue will be rolling out the red carpet on Thursday Night Out and Friday Brunch. “It’s simply a must-attend event,” added Daniel. “Gorgeous attire is optional!”
