Youngster Sam Hobday, pictured right, has had a great run at the Royal Golf Club having won the monthly DHL Order of Merit competition with a gross score of 72 on countback.
This follows on the heels of clinching the runners-up spot in the club’s annual Bahrain Junior Open.Abdulla Al Hakam came second in the DHL order of merit followed by Hamad Mubarak, both with gross scores of 72. In the gent’s nett category, Shaker Hubail was first with 69 nett, Essa Ebrahim was runner-up with 70 nett on countback and Rob Lane came third, also on 70.
Lane’s consistent performances each month have put him at the top of both the gross and nett sections of the order of merit and his wife, Debbie, sits at the top of both ladies sections, having won this month’s nett section and taking the runners-up spot in the gross category.
Yaseen Le Falher comfortably won the junior section of the competition with a nett score of 71. Saud Al Sharif came second with nett 76 and Derrek Ngo was third with nett 77.
Nearly 100 competitors took part in the popular members only competition. The overall order of merit winners of all three gross categories will be named in December as the club’s champions for 2014.
