Gulf Weekly Four new Porsche models unleashed for a fast start

Porsche thrilled spectators at the recent 2016 Qatar Motor Show by unleashing four new models as the brand looks to make a fast start to the year after a successful 2015.

The new 911 Turbo S is the top dog in the 911 range, thanks to new turbo chargers with larger compressors. The 3.8-litre twin-turbo six-cylinder engine delivers an output of 580bhp with a top speed of 330kmph and makes the Turbo S the first production 911 to accelerate to 100kmph in less than three seconds, reaching the milestone speed in 2.9 seconds.

The Macan GTS promises even more driving fun as a sport option among compact SUVs. With an output of 360bhp, the model features a 3.0L V6 bi-turbo engine and can reach 100kmph in five seconds flat, with a top speed of 256kmph.

Deesch Papke, CEO of Porsche Middle East and North Africa, said: “The Porsche 911 is the brand’s most iconic model and we are thrilled to be powering into 2016 with three new variants, including the top-of-the-range 911 Turbo S which offers even more power, driving excitement and a sharper design.

“Through constant development in the form of technology transfer and a philosophy of evolution, our engineers have been able to advance the 911 range to its highest point yet. With the premiere of the new Macan GTS we are celebrating a landmark moment, as we now have a powerful and dynamic GTS version in every Porsche model series.”

Porsche highlighted the refined exterior features of the latest 911 models, which enhance the model’s iconic character. They include new headlights with four-point daytime running lights and a redesigned rear lid with vertical louvres, as well as distinctive four-point brake lights at the rear.

Meanwhile, central to the interior is the updated Porsche Communication Management system with a multi-touch display, which offers a considerably expanded range of functions and intuitive controls.

Audi unveiled three regional premiers at the show, including the Audi RS Q3, the first RS model in the Q series, and the SQ5 and S8 Plus models which the German marque believe will be a huge hit with customers.

With a power output of 605bhp and a top speed of 305kmph, the S8 Plus delivers a more enhanced driving performance and a lightweight, comfortable design thanks to its aluminium chassis.

The RS Q3 combines everyday practicality with dynamic driving performance. The 2.5L five-cylinder turbo produces 340bhp and has an average fuel consumption of 8.4L of fuel per 100km.

The SQ5 is powered by a supercharged, 3.0L V6 engine that produces 354bhp and 470Nm of torque.

Benoit Tiers, managing director of Audi Middle East, said: “Audi Middle East is looking forward to an exciting year in 2016 with many new models arriving in our dealerships very soon. This is an important market for Audi that has shown consistent growth, and we are looking forward to providing our customers with great driving experiences in the coming years.”
