Tilly’s Concept – an ‘urban concept store’ – at Seef Mall was officially unveiled with an opening ceremony last week.
When Sophia Jawad graduated from university with a fashion and business management degree, she opened her own boutique in 2011 and its popularity has grown. Tilly’s Closet, with a sister store at the Jawad Dome, Barbar, features a collection of high-end fashion shoes, handbags and accessories, as well as decor aiming to ‘please the girly-girl’ in every woman.
As reported earlier in GulfWeekly, Sophia hand-picks many of the items to go up on the shelves with the mantra: “It’s chic. It’s comfortable. It’s affordable. It’s for you!” She explained how items in the store aimed to suit a variety of tastes and pocket, with innovative styles, colours and shapes the order of the day.
Graduating from one of the top universities in the UK, the University of Arts London, Sophia landed an internship for one of the biggest names in fashion and she believes that experience helped prepare her for the pressures that come with running a business in this competitive field.
